The first time you put on five-toe socks, they feel odd. That is normal and everyone says it. Your toes have spent your entire adult life pressed together inside a single pocket, and now each one is sitting on its own. Some people love it immediately. Most need about a week.
This is a short guide to that week, so you do not give up on day two.
Day one: get them on properly
The single most common mistake is rushing. Start with the little toe, not the big one. Work each toe into its own pocket one at a time, then pull the sock up over the heel. Take the extra thirty seconds. If you yank the whole thing on at once you will end up with two toes sharing a pocket, which feels wrong for the entire day and is the reason some people decide toe socks are not for them.
Wear them around the house for a couple of hours the first day. Not a twelve-hour shift. Let your feet get used to the sensation without also breaking in new shoes or doing a long walk on the same day.
Days two and three: add shoes
Now try them in the shoes you wear most. Pay attention to fit at the toe box. Because your toes are now spread rather than compressed, your foot occupies slightly more width up front. In a roomy shoe you will not notice. In a narrow dress shoe you might, and that is useful information about the shoe rather than the sock.
Days four to seven: normal life
By now the sensation stops registering as strange. Most people describe the shift as suddenly not noticing them, which is the goal. Wear them for a full day, a shift, a workout, whatever normal looks like for you.
Things that help
Trim your toenails before your first wear. A long nail catching the seam of a toe pocket is uncomfortable and shortens the life of the sock.
Wash them inside out on a cool cycle and air dry. Heat is what kills the elastic in any compression sock, and the arch support is the part you want to preserve.
Have two or three pairs in rotation rather than one. Elastic recovers better with a rest day, and you will not be caught with your only pair in the wash.

When they should feel good
If they still feel wrong after a week of regular wear, check the size first. Too small and the toe pockets pull your toes backward, which is genuinely uncomfortable rather than just unfamiliar. Too large and the pockets bunch. Either one gets fixed with the right size, not with more time.
